Where It All Started
Ministry Of Trim started in 2021, I was walking around Byron Bay with Haylee and I said "im over spending money for clothes on brands who mean nothing to me. I want to wear something that means something to me".
During the covid lockdown I started a little instagram/Facebook page to share footage of myself, brothers, mates and other like minded people that would send in their content for the world to see. I started filming our casual river runs, my racing, my mates racing and it took a turn for YouTube.
A follower in Belgium reached out and asked "do we sell any stickers? So naturally I had stickers made and was sending them to anyone that was forwarding me footage of their boats as a little thank you. (you'll know if you have an OG sticker) Fast forward a couple months it my birthday and Haylee got me my own Ministry Of Trim Hoodie and T-shirt... This was the round circle moment, I was wearing something I created, I designed and meant so much to me... I remember a couple weeks after that another follower reached out and said "how do we get one of these shirts?" Well say no more, I was on a mission not only did I have a brand I wanted to wear so did other people!
That kicked off the Ministry Of Trim community. I remember turning up to my first Double Dash boat race as "The Ministry Of Trim guy with Eleanor" my 2100 Bullet and we brought out our merch. we had shirts, stubby coolers, stickers and a small supply of fresh hoodies (not knowing if that would sell) as luck would have it the beautiful morning turned ugly, the sky turned grey and the rain turned up. My brother Alex and I were heading to the beach under Windsor bridge to hide from the rain prior to the start of the race and my phones notifications from Shopify were going stupid. I look down at my phone and its sale after sale. I don't think we even started the race and Haylee has sold out of hoodies and was now taking pre orders... We finished the race and it felt like we had the biggest team at the event. There was Ministry Of Trim everywhere. We didn't place, shit I don't think we even got close to the pointy end but we couldn't care less. IT WAS AMAZING...
Nowadays I try to make sure Eleanor is always around somewhere, she's either got cameras on her or im finding different people with different stories and boats to put cameras on to capture those moments in time when the world stops and its just you, your machine and the water.
I just want to say I appreciate everyone who is apart of this page/channel/community and I appreciate everyone who supports Haylee and myself by purchasing some merch. Not only does it help financially, it also keeps me going and striving to be better!
Cheers for the support, THOMMO!
